Cherie Touchette

Organizer -

Cherie is an elite multisport athlete, personal trainer/multisport coach, and mother of 3, who loves to ride her mountain bike on the miles of single track trails west of Bend. When she is not shuttling around her busy teenager, she is chasing around her 6 year old twin boys. She has competed 11 Ironmans – six of them at the World Championship – with a PR of 10:11. However, riding in the dirt – and helping other women ride in the dirt, is her passion. Xterra racing is all she did for a number of years – gaining her an eventual 2nd place overall female finish in 2001.

Cherie does more coaching than racing these days, assisting first timers to those trying to qualify for Kona reach their racing potential. She specializes in biomechanics and laying a proper foundation to keep her athletes injury free. Having raced as a masters athlete with a family, Cherie knows how to help get the most out of your training with the least possible time.

The core of Cherie’s fitness/training philosophy is based on attention to detail and belief that whatever level of conditioning one is at, it should be done properly. Form before function; there shouldn’t be an advanced level of activity without correct form because this will cause injury. From this foundation, she effectively and successfully works with each individual at the level they are currently at, so they may safely progress to the level they wish to achieve.

Karly Wade

Organizer -

Karly’s love for running began in high school when morning runs with her dad led her to compete in cross country and track throughout high school and college. A series of running related injuries along the way evolved her love for running in to an overall love of movement as she began to explore triathlon, had the opportunity to train and compete with a cycling team while living in Seattle and began practicing yoga in Seattle in 2008.

Karly completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Liza Digaetano in 2011 and has been greatly influenced by Kathryn Budig, Kourtney Kaas, Ashley Turner, Rolf Gates and a number of other teachers in the many studios she has had the fortune to practice in over the years. In addition to yoga teacher training, Karly has completed level 1 certification through USATF and has coached cross country and track.

Karly’s goal as a fitness professional is to inspire others to achieve their goals through her passion and experience. In addition to practicing yoga and training for her next race, continues to refine her understanding of yoga by studying with yoga teachers across the country and on any given day can be found playing at trapeze school, summiting a mountain or fine-tuning skills on her cross-country skis depending on the season.

Keith Christensen

Keith’s journey with running began in just 3 short years ago when after breaking his back at 25 and relearning how to walk again a year later had left him battling depression, chronic sciatica, and weight gain maxing him out at at 440 lbs . 13 years later he Quit smoking started walking just 2 blocks at a time and signed up to walk his first 1/2 marathon skipping all the shorter distances “if it doesn’t scare you a bit it wont change you a bit “ Keith says. One month before the 1/2 marathon he tried running just 1 mile as he was walking a 13min mile at that point and for the first time in his life he ran 3 miles ever “slow “he says but he could run . Even though he was in football an wrestling in High school he had never had to run more that a mile or 2 at 1 time .

Keith since that day in May of 2012 has ran 5 1/2 marathons ,17 10k’s ,26 5k’s, obstacle course races, and GoRuck challenges lasting over 7 hours or continuous pt and running. He is down over 156 lbs and has now ran over 2850 miles since.

Keith’s main goal as a fitness professional is to show its never to late make a comeback. No matter the obstacles in your way you can make the rest of your life the best of your life. In addition to mountain bike riding, kayaking, snowshoeing, trail running and Hiking he is also a small business owner, father, and husband.

I moved to the USA seven years ago from South Africa. Not feeling safe enough to run outside, I spent my running time on a treadmill, entering 10k races from time to time. I read an article about Bend FIT in March 2008 and decided I should join and run a marathon. Since I started with Bend FIT, I have run six half marathons, four full marathons, a 50K ultra marathon and numerous smaller races in and around Bend. I enjoy encouraging new and not-so-new runners to reach their goals and take their running to the next level.
